A little background music

We first thought of moving to Zambia way back in 2005, after our first visit. Well, it was actually my first visit, since this is the place where my husband, Chando, was born.  But he hadn't been home for almost two decades, and so we were both enchanted with the thought of leaving the city-life behind and trying something different.  What we didn't plan on was finding out I was pregnant with our second son during that first week of our holiday.  So when we returned the South Pasadena, we quickly forgot about our African aspirations, and settled back down into our familiar routine.  Three years later, our third son was born. We were thrilled, because, like Chando's parents, we now had three sons.  Unfortunately, his Mom was very ill, and so we made the decision to come back to Zambia for a few years, to help out and let our children spend time with their grandparents.  That was a little over two years ago. We had no idea what we were getting into. Like Boy George sang, "Everyday is like survival."  And what I am learning is that Africa has a ferocious beauty about it.  You cannot be afraid of it.  You must feel it.
